Thrombosed PileA thrombosed pile, also popularly known as thrombosed hemorrhoid, can cause much discomfort and pain to a person. Just in case you could not picture out what a pile is, it looks like varicose veins on a person's leg- bluish, swelling, and painful. Symptoms A lot of people do not usually notice that they have developed a hemorrhoid until they notice a painful lump around the anus during and immediately after excretion. However, this is not the only way to determine if a pile is present. Blood is often the main trigger to the patient. If you notice blood that trickles down when you are passing stool or when you wipe the anal area after excretion, then you just may have a hemorrhoid. However, this is not always the case as there are a lot of other internal medical conditions wherein blood will pass through the stool. If is therefore important to consult a doctor if excessive blood loss is experienced or if the symptoms do not go away for a long time. A person with a thrombosed pile may feel itchiness immediately after defecating. Also, pain will usually accompany the process, and the inflamed area is painful to touch for hours after defecating. Hard stools will make the pain worse; therefore, especially when you already have piles, it is better to change your diet to include natural fiber-rich foods and plenty of water so that your stool will become soft. Also, the doctor can prescribe you some bulk fiber to facilitate faster softening of the stool so that you will not irritate the swollen area further. Especially when the piles are large, you may feel that you even after you defecate, stool is still inside your colon. Stopping the Pain The main goal here is that the pain caused by the piles should be eliminated. A remedy that is very popular in almost all types of illnesses is exercise. This is not surprising as exercise can help improve blood circulation in the body including the anal area and the intestines. Topical creams can also help ease the pain, but others claim that this does not reduce the swelling. Moreover, especially when the thrombosed pile is external, do not rub hard using a toilet paper as you may only irritate the swollen area more. Some people also claim that certain herbs can make the swelling subside fast. Long-term Treatment People think that because the thrombosed pile is not causing pain or other symptoms, it is already healed. This is mostly fallacy because that pile can become irritated once again, and this time, even a fraction of the pressure that caused the original hemorrhoid can cause re-inflammation. Treatment (approved by your doctor) should be pursued so that the pile will not come back. Developing a hemorrhoid is one of nature's wake-up call to you that you could be abusing your body. Try to change your food and exercise habits. Also, you should defecate when you feel the urge to do it so that you can maintain a routine while also relieving your colon of fecal matter. |
